The colour blue

The colour Blue is a journey of self-exploration, reflecting my personal experiences and emotions. Initially, I set out to untangle the unknown family histories and inherited traumas that have shaped me. Along the way, however, I found myself confronting my own story-facing truths I had long avoided. Writing and expressing my feelings for those - for myself, by creating a bridge between—a blue space of understanding and reflection.

Photography became my voice when words failed me, allowing me to externalize overwhelming emotions. The process of creating something tangible out of these feelings gave me both catharsis and a sense of control over a narrative I couldn’t articulate in conversation.

I shot my images on large format film to embrace a slower process, knowing this project was meant to have a physical presence. I chose cyanotypes because of an indescribable connection to the colour blue. As I toned my images with black tea, it became a lengthy exploration of chemical transformations that mirrored my own journey— reshaping and reinterpreting my story. To me, the soul’s colour is blue—not just one shade, but many. This project represents the bruises these memories left on my heart while also symbolizing healing and transformation. What was once black and white has become faded blue, like the softened edges of memory-painful yet beautiful in its evolution.
